What to expect

Boudoir shoots are fun and empowering!

They can also be intimidating. So, here’s what to expect from our session and how you can prepare for it!

When I arrive…

Usually I do in-home shoots. When I get to your place we’ll say hello and find a good “staging area”. Somewhere out of the way where we can dump outfits and camera gear.

Then we’ll take a look around and find the best spots to shoot! Windows with sheer curtains, beds, couches, stair cases, tubs and showers, tables - these all make for incredible shots.

Please have your house decluttered when I get there. This means no dishes in the sink, piles of mail, or other clutter on surfaces. Thank you!

Then we get to obsess over outfits! Oh my gawd I LOVE this part!

What you bring…

You are responsible for your hair, makeup and outfits (I have a stash of things I bring that you are welcome to use as well!)

I believe Boudoir is all about letting you shine through. So, be true to yourself. Look your best, but make sure you still look like you!

Again, this is YOUR shoot to celebrate YOU. (Have I said “YOU” enough?)

Outfits - everyone has their own preferences. Some people love lacy lingerie, others like wearing leather. Jeans and a cute bra is classically cute and looks amazing on everyone! Be true to yourself and wear what makes you feel comfortable and powerful.

White t-shirts are fantastic, especially if we’re getting into a shower. Plain colors with no logos are usually a good idea.

Also accessories are fun! (Hats, scarves, jewelry, shoes)

If you have any questions or need ideas, feel free to reach out and we can chat about it!

The shoot…

This is going to be a blast!

It can be fun to play music, so think about if you want something mellow or upbeat. We can also have beverages to sip on throughout the shoot if you’d like!

It can take a while to warm up and get comfortable, but we’ll get there! I will always ask your permission to touch you if I want to adjust a strap or a piece of hair.

This is going to be fun and awkward and we will definitely laugh A LOT!

You can rely on me to pose you and give honest feedback. And feel free to throw out your own ideas too! In fact, please do, after all, this shoot is yours!

Self Care…

Self care is a BIG deal!

There are so many ways to show your body you love it. This shoot being one of them.

This is a space where we can be excited, nervous, vulnerable and inspired all at the same time. That’s a lot of emotions to handle! So please spend time taking care of yourself.

I recommend clearing your schedule for an hour or two before and after your shoot so you can prepare, and then decompress.

Self Image:

Take some time before our shoot to really look at yourself in the mirror. Know what you look like and find what you love! Go over every inch of yourself and say “Damn, I’m Fabulous!”

Give your body that affirmation. Tell it you love it. Sometimes our bodies love us back, other times they don’t. But we have to love our body - it’s all we have, let’s nurture it.

Self love comes in many forms: food, exercise, pampering, rest, acceptance, etc. This shoot is all about self love. Love who you are, who you are becoming, all the incredible things your body does (like breathing without us having to ask!).

Tap in to what you love about yourself. Wear that loud and proud!

Pre -shoot self care:

Check in with yourself about how you’re feeling going into this, and tap into the energy you want to bring.

Listen to yourself - do you need to get hyped up? Do you need to calm down?

You could take an extra long hot shower, snuggle up in a blanket with some tea, exercise, eat healthy. Listen to some music that puts you in the head space you want to be in.

Post-shoot care:

It might take a while to come down from our shoot. Usually we get excited and giddy with what we’re creating. Ride that high as long as you want!

When you come down, be there for yourself. Make some tea, take a shower, or go out on the town with your bestie because you’re stunning and want to flaunt it!

Whatever you do, listen to your body, listen to your heart, and do what’s best for you.

I can’t wait to see you and create some magic!

It’s time to release your inner goddess!
